Brass Ensemble - resumes october 8th

HSLC’s Brass Ensemble joins together trumpet, French horn, trombone, tuba, timpani and often other percussion players from the congregation with at least 3-4 years of playing experience.  The group is intergenerational with kids late middle school age through seniors. Rehearsals occur on Sundays from 12:15-1:15 pm in the Sanctuary, depending on the performance schedule. The group usually plays on festival Sundays of the church year like Reformation, All Saints, Christ the King, Christmas, Transfiguration, and Easter. New members are very welcome, and low brass players are particularly needed! Contact John Sparkman to be a part of the group, or with questions.

The Spirited String Ensemble is also a multi-generational group of string players. Violinists, cellists, violists and bassists with at least 3-4 years of experience are welcomed. The ensemble offers music in worship a few times per year.  You are welcome to join in! Contact John Sparkman to express your interest or to ask questions.

Jubilee Orchestra - on HIATUS

As the Holy Spirit community is blessed with many talented musicians, all unite as a 25-35 piece orchestra for special worship services and concerts. Past offerings of music have included a wide variety pieces as varied as works made famous by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, movements of symphonies by Dvorak and Mendelssohn, and a wide variety of arrangements, some prepared by leaders in the community, of sacred tunes.  Players of all the ensembles are invited to participate, and others of any age with at least 3-4 years of playing experience are very welcome. Contact John Sparkman to express your interest or to ask questions.

Pianists at Holy Spirit

The piano skills of members are celebrated as part of the Holy Spirit music ministry. Accompanists are often needed for choirs and instrumental ensembles, and many members join in piano duets with staff keyboardists, offer piano solos, and play with the Jubilee Orchestra in worship. If you play piano or keyboard and would like to participate in this way, contact John Sparkman

Instrumental Soloists, Small Groups, and Ensembles

If you play an instrument, there are opportunities for you to offer your talents as a soloist or in a small ensemble in addition to the ensembles listed above. Rehearsals are organized individually based on schedule needs and availability. Contact John to find out more on how you can contribute to the instrumental community at Holy Spirit.
