Handbell Music Ministries
Holy Spirit’s dedicated group of adult and senior high youth handbell musicians, the Spirit Ringers, play on five octaves of Schumlerich handbells and three octaves of Malmark handchimes. With rehearsals on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 in the sanctuary, the Spirit Ringers offer music in worship about once a month. Music selections include original compositions for bells as well as hymns, songs, and a wide variety of music arranged for handbells. Contact director John if you are interested in ringing!
Children in grades 3 through 6 are invited to participate in Holy Spirit’s 3-octave beginning bell and chime choir for kids, led by Malia Johnson. Fundamentals of music notation and bell ringing are taught, and the group performs several times a year in worship and at other special congregational events. The group rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 pm in the sanctuary and offers music about once a quarter or when children are ready to feel confident in worship. Contact John with questions, and register for the choir at here.
Youth 6th grade and up are invited to participate in the Rejoicing Ringers, a 3-4 octave intermediate bell and chime choir. Some music reading experience is helpful for participation in this group, but not always absolutely necessary. The Rejoicing Ringers meet on Sunday afternoons from 2:30 to 3:30 in the sanctuary October through April and offer music approximately once a month in worship. Contact John with any questions, and register for the choir at here.
