The Latin word, ‘mandatum,’ meaning, ‘commandment,’ gives this day its name. In this case, the commandment comes from Jesus, inviting us to Holy Communion and a life of service. We tell two central stories of the Christian life: Jesus washing his disciples’ feet to show them how to love one another; and Jesus’ last meal with his friends, in which he promises to be with them always in this meal of bread and wine.
Join us as we walk together through Holy Week. Our Maundy Thursday worship includes communion with bread made by our children, foot washing, and hand washing. Our third graders who have just completed the Communion Connections class will take communion together at this worship service.
