Preparing youth for first communion.
We, as a congregation, invite people of all ages to participate in the sacrament of Holy Communion. The participation of children
is at the discretion and decision of parents. As part of the BAPTISMAL PROMISE*, parents committed to provide instruction in the Christian faith,
including the sacrament of Holy Communion. The church’s commitment to the BAPTISMAL PROMISE is to provide ways for the parents and sponsors to
fulfill their promise. We offer a Communion Participation Class a.k.a. Communion Connections to those families where children are already communing,
as well as those preparing for their first communion.
This year we are offering two class options, you will only need to attend one of the classes. Our Communion Connections classes will be held on
Sunday, May 17, 2009 and Saturday May 30, 2009 from 2:00pm-5:00 pm and include a pizza dinner at 4:30 pm. We’ll explore Holy Communion through
study, drama, art, sanctuary practice and a scavenger hunt!
The class is designed for 3rd grade students and their parents. Children in 4th-6th grade and their parents
who have not attended in the past or would like a refresher are also welcome to attend.
Please register your family for this event at Early Registration (August 17 & 24) or on Rally Sunday (September 7).
You may also register in the Spring. On Sunday, May 31, 2009 at the
9:30am and 11:00am worship services, there will be special recognition of students in the Communion Participation Class and
certificates of completion will be distributed.
If you would like to discuss Holy Communion (but are not grades 3—6) please contact a pastor by calling
the church office.
