Community Groups

Tuesdays

Community Supper/Tutoring   5:00-7:00pm

K.I.T.H.'s (Kirkland Interfaith Transition in Housing) Community Supper is a meal shared each Tuesday at 6:00pm with those in the community who are having trouble making ends meet and/or for those who could use the company of others.  The supper, held in the lower fellowship hall, is provided in a loving and respectful manner with a very strong emphasis on equality.  At Community Supper, we also offer a tutoring program for the children who attend at 5:00 once school begins.  We enjoy other fun and informative classes and celebrations, such as "Back to School" and holiday parties.  Jan Nesbit coordinates the scheduling of this outreach with different area churches that provide the weekly meals.  If you need more information, please call either Jan Nesbit at (206) 623-1211 or the K.I.T.H. office at (425) 576-9531.

Boy Scout Troop 570   7:00-9:00pm

Scouting is camping, hiking, swimming, campfires, and friendship. Scouting is learning about the community, our country, and the world.  But most of all, scouting is FUN!!!   The troop provides a program that achieves the Boy Scouts of America objectives of developing character, citizenship, and personal fitness for boys and young men.  Troop activities are focused on scouts learning and achieving rank advancement, outdoor activities year round, and service projects in the community.

Additional information about the Troop can be found at BSA Troop 570 and/or by contacting the Troop Scoutmaster, Dale Rae (Dale@dfrae.com). Troop 570 meets at HSLC every Tuesday evening in the lower fellowship hall of the church.  HSLC has chartered Troop 570 for over 35 years.

AA, Juanita Triangle   8:00-9:15pm

Our AA program meets on Tuesday nights at 8:00pm to help alcoholics and is open for anyone to attend. However, a large focus of our meeting is on new sobriety and how to get recovered from a seemingly hopeless state of mind and body with the help of a power greater than oneself. We provide transportation for patients to and from the Lakeside Milam treatment facility located close by the church and hopefully carry the message of recovery to help these newly-sober individuals. Our focus is on the 12 Steps of AA, following the directions from the Big Book on how to accomplish that, and turning our will and our lives to a power greater than ourselves. For more information, visit the local AA web page and/or the local Al-anon web site. Please note that the map to our location on these sites has been wrong consistently for some time. Use the map link at the left hand side of this site for directions to Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Kirkland.

Thursdays

The Compassionate Friends    7:30-9:00pm (2nd Thurs/mo)

The Compassionate Friends is a non-profit, self-help organization offering friendship and support to families who have experienced the death of a child or children.  There are no membership fees or dues; there is no religious affiliation.  The Compassionate Friends' mission is to reach out to bereaved parents and be of help to them in their grief journey.  We meet the second Thursday of each month at 7:30pm in the upper fellowship hall of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church.  Please call Diane evenings at (425) 881-8855 or Susan evenings and weekends at (425) 820-0712 for further information.

Fridays

Cub Scouts Pack 566    7:00-8:30pm (2 x/mo)

Young boys grow up fast.  Get your son ready to build wood projects, take field trips around town, go bowling, skating, bike riding, and swimming, race pinewood derby cars and boats, and make new friends. Give your son a valuable gift; investing in him today will make a difference in the person he becomes tomorrow.

Pack 566, chartered by HSLC, invites you and your son to join this neighborhood program.  The pack celebrated its 30th birthday a few years ago and continues to teach boys in the 1st-5th grades the scouting values of duty to family, God, community, and self as well as developing new skills and interests, gaining a positive sense of self-worth and usefulness, and building social skills—all while having lots of fun.

Cub Scout Pack 566 meets once a month in the lower fellowship hall of the church.  Parent leaders meet in the conference room on the first Friday of each month to help plan Pack activities.  Service projects the Cub Scouts help with around the church include the spring and fall clean-up/leaf raking.

To learn more about joining cub scouts, please visit our website or contact Sachio Yuasa, Cubmaster, at either (425) 820-6838 or Sachioy@hotmail.com

Our motto is DO YOUR BEST!
