VBS & Day Camp Daily Newsletter - Wednesday, July 20, 2011

by Becky 20. July 2011 02:43

Today, we are going to learn about Jonah and the Big Fish. Rather than running from God, trust Him with your past, present, and future. We can pray anywhere and at any time, and God will hear us.

DAILY BIBLE VERSE: I called to the Lord out of my distress, and he answered me. Jonah 2:2a, b

ARCTIC CRITTER & DAILY TRIVIA: Snowy Owl – Snowy owls’ feathers change in color with the season, brown in the summer and white in the winter.

PICK-UP: When you return to pick-up your child, you & your child will be checked at the exit doors to make sure the number tag matches the child’s wristband number. Please keep the number tag easily accessible during this check-out process. The safety of your child is very important to us!! There will be tables with the Arts & Crafts projects on them in the narthex so you can pick up your child’s project on your way out.

FOOD & WINTER OUTERWEAR DRIVE: This year, our Vacation Bible School & Day Camp are holding two drives to help the increasing number of people in the area. In the spirit of the Arctic, we are conducting a winter outerwear drive over the next two weeks as part of our outreach. We are asking for donations of new and/or gently used coats, mittens, gloves, and hats. These donations will be given to Hopelink for distribution to needy families in the area. We are also holding our annual summer food drive. We are asking each family to make a donation of food that school-age children would especially like. These donations will also be given to the Hopelink. We will continue our drive through Sunday, July 31.

ICE CREAM SOCIAL: Thursday, July 21 will be our Ice Cream Social in the Fellowship Hall starting at 6:30 pm. It is a great way to see what the kids have been doing in the Arctic all week. Please bring your family and come to Arctic.

GENERAL REMINDERS:

  • Please sign your child in each day. If the person dropping the child off in the morning between 8:45-9:00 am is different than the person picking the child up at 12:00 noon, please note that on the sign-in sheet. Please make sure the person picking up your child has the numbered tag, this makes for easier exiting.
  • Your child is to keep the bracelet on the entire week; once it is removed the only way to put it back on is to get a new one with a new number. Please keep the number tag in a safe place because you will need to show the tag when you pick-up your child.
  • Please have your child wear their VBS shirt every day. This is one of the ways we can easily identify which children are part of our Vacation Bible School & Day Camp experience.
