We had an absolute fantastic time this week exploring the Arctic. Vacation Bible School & Day Camp 2011 proved to be another terrific year at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church! Today is our last day and we learned about the River of Life. Eternal life, everlasting love, and abundant blessings are given to us through God’s son, Jesus. God will one day end all suffering and heal the world.
DAILY BIBLE VERSE:On either side of the river is the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit…and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. Revelation 22:2 b, c
ARCTIC CRITTER & DAILY TRIVIA:Lemming – Lemmings are small mouse-like animals whose front claws grow longer in the winter so they can dig tunnels under the wind-packed snow.
FOOD & WINTER OUTERWEAR DRIVE:This year, our Vacation Bible School & Day Camp are holding two drives to help the increasing number of people in the area. In the spirit of the Arctic, we are conducting a winter outerwear drive over the next two weeks as part of our outreach. We are asking for donations of new and/or gently used coats, mittens, gloves, and hats. These donations are for Hopelink to distribute to needy families in the area. We are also holding our annual summer food drive. We are asking each family to make a donation of food that school-age children would especially like. These donations will also be given to the Hopelink.
VBS 2012:With Vacation Bible School and Day Camp drawing to a close for this year, we look forward to seeing you again next year. Plan to join us July 9-13, 2012 at God’s Big Tent: There’s Room for Everyone!
DEPARTING WORDS:
-
Thank you to everyone who helped make this week a success. We are delighted you joined us in the Arctic Adventure.
-
Everyone seemed to have a wonderful time at the Ice Cream Social on Thursday evening. Thank you for coming and showing your support!
