Assisting in Worship

In the Lutheran tradition, worship is indeed the “work of the people” – and it takes many people to make a worship service possible. There are many ways to serve:

  • Altar Guild serves the congregation in preparing the sanctuary for worship: setting the table for communion, preparing behind the scenes, and providing needed supplies. If you are interested in helping with the Altar Guild, please contact Anchi Miller at (425) 820-4450.

  • Musicians, including the choir, special soloists, and cantors, are integral in worship, as music is a big part of the Lutheran tradition. If you are interested in music, please contact our choir director, Eric Peterson, through the church office.

  • Sound Technicians monitor the audio system in the sanctuary, and also provide support for classes and special events as needed. They also record sermons and classes to make them available as podcasts, or as audio tapes in the church library.

  • Worship Assistants provide leadership in reading the scripture and sharing prayers during the worship service.

  • Greeters, who offer a welcome, and Ushers, who hand out worship materials and help with offering, are a big part of Sunday morning hospitality.

  • Acolytes, usually youth in grades 4-6, lead us into worship by lighting candles, and help during the service itself.
